Cleaning & home services

Simple phones for a team that's always at someone's home.

Cleaning and home service companies use NounDesk to hand staff company Android phones that are locked to the apps the job needs (scheduling, check-in, messaging), protected by a simple PIN policy, and easy to reassign when staff change. The Standard Business template with an app allow-list is the recommended starting point.

The situation

Your team works inside customers' homes, often alone, with a phone that holds the schedule and the client's address and gate code. Staff change often. You do not have time to set up phones, and you do not want to be seen as tracking anyone.

What NounDesk does for a cleaning or home services company

An allow-list, not a lecture

Mark your scheduling, check-in and messaging apps as Required, block everything from outside Google Play, and leave a few Available apps for convenience. The phone is a work phone without anyone having to say so.

A PIN, encryption and not much else

The Standard Business policy requires a PIN and encrypts storage. That is what protects a customer's gate code if a phone is left on a bus.

Fast turnover, no drama

When someone leaves, the offboarding dialog asks what to do with their phone. Keep it unassigned, hand it to the next hire, done. Nothing is erased by accident.

Privacy you can state out loud

NounDesk never sees calls, messages, browsing or location outside lost mode. Tell your team that on day one; it is on our security and privacy page for them to read.

Why cleaning companies pick NounDesk

Ten minutes to set up, no IT person, and a price per phone that makes sense for a business with tight margins. Phones arrive ready, get handed over ready, and get handed on ready.

A cleaner's phone holds the details your clients care most about: their address, their alarm code, the note about the dog and where the spare key is. It goes into dozens of homes a week, often with someone who started last month. NounDesk keeps those phones simple, protected and ready to hand on.

How a rollout works for an 18-cleaner team

Most cleaning and home service companies run 10 to 30 staff phones, often budget Android models, with turnover every few months. Set the phones up once and they stay ready for each new hire.

  • 1. One profile, one policy

Use Standard Business with apps from outside Google Play blocked, and a naming rule like Team-01. Every phone enrolled from the profile is the same.

  • 2. Your scheduling app, Required

Add your scheduling and check-in app by name from managed Google Play, for example Jobber or Housecall Pro, plus messaging and maps.

  • 3. Assign on day one

Assign the phone to the new cleaner when you hand it over, so you always know whose phone is whose.

  • 4. Unassign, don't reset

When someone leaves, choose Keep managed, unassigned. The phone keeps its apps and policy and is ready for the next hire.

What 19 devices cost

A cleaning company with 18 staff phones and an office tablet: 19 devices × $1.50 = $28.50 a month.

  • No add-ons

Every feature is included at $1.50 per device. A new hire's phone adds $1.50; there are no tiers.

  • No minimum, no contract

Turnover and seasonal staff do not lock you into a size. There is no minimum and no annual contract.

  • Try it on every device first

The 14-day free trial covers up to 50 devices and needs no card.

Common situations

What happens when…

The situations that actually come up, and what you do about each one.

A cleaner leaves a phone at a client's home

Turn on Lost mode. The screen locks and shows your office number, so the client can call rather than puzzle over whose phone it is. The gate codes and schedule on it are behind a PIN and encryption, which is what your policy required from day one.

Someone installs games on their work phone

They cannot, if apps from outside Google Play are blocked and only your chosen apps are Available. If a blocked app appears anyway, an alert tells you which phone and you can remove it remotely.

Three staff leave the same month

Deactivate each one and choose "Keep managed, unassigned". The phones stay locked down with the scheduling app installed. When the replacements start, assign each phone to its new owner. No resets, no reinstalling anything.

Staff ask whether you can see their location

You can tell them honestly: no. NounDesk reports a phone's location only while an administrator has put it in lost mode, and never sees calls, messages or browsing. Point them at the security and privacy page if they want to read it themselves.

Cleaning & home services: questions answered

Can staff install their own apps?

Only if you allow it. With apps from outside Google Play blocked and only your chosen apps marked Available, the phone stays a work phone.

Staff turnover is high. Is reassigning a phone hard?

No. Deactivate the leaving employee, choose "Keep managed, unassigned", then assign the phone to the new hire. Their apps and policy are already on it.

Does NounDesk see where my cleaners are?

No. Location is reported only if you put a phone in lost mode. NounDesk manages devices, not people.

Can we share cleaning checklists and chemical safety sheets?

Yes. Company documents shares checklists, safety sheets and the staff handbook with everyone, a team group or named employees. Staff open them in the Company documents app after signing in with a one-time code sent to their work email, and you can see who opened what and when.

Can the office tablet be a clock-in station?

Yes. Kiosk mode locks a tablet to your time-clock or check-in app, or to a web page, with settings blocked. Staff tap in at the start of a shift and cannot use the tablet for anything else.
