Enrollment in minutes

Scan a QR code. The phone sets itself up.

NounDesk enrolls company-owned Android phones and tablets (Android 8 or newer) by scanning a QR code on the device's factory-reset setup screen. The device joins your organization, receives its group, security policy and required apps, and shows live progress from "Waiting for device" to "Ready" without anyone installing an app by hand. Phones bought through an authorized zero-touch reseller can skip the QR code and enroll automatically the first time they are switched on.

How does QR-code enrollment work?

Turn on a company-owned Android phone straight out of the box, or right after a factory reset, and it shows the Android welcome screen. Tap that screen six times, point the camera at the code NounDesk shows you, and the phone does the rest by itself.

  • Connects to Wi-Fi, joins your organization and applies the policy you picked, with nobody typing anything on the phone.
  • No NounDesk app to install and nothing extra to keep updated, because it runs on Android Enterprise, Google's own framework.
  • Works on any Google-certified phone or tablet running Android 8 or newer.

Set the profile once, use it for the whole batch

An enrollment profile saves the combination you would otherwise set by hand on every device. Create it once and every phone that scans its code arrives configured the same way.

  • Pick the group, such as Field crew or Front counter, so the device lands with the right team.
  • Pick the security policy, such as Field Worker or Kiosk, so it is locked down from its first minute.
  • Pick a naming pattern, such as Van-01 and Van-02, so devices arrive with names you recognise.

Assign the employee before the phone arrives

You can choose who a device belongs to at enrollment time rather than tidying up afterwards. The moment a phone appears in your device list it is already somebody's.

  • The device shows up owned by Maria, in the right group, with her apps already installing.
  • No second pass to rename devices, move them between groups or work out whose is whose.
  • Leave it unassigned for spares and hand it to whoever needs it later.

Live status you can trust

Each enrolling device moves through five visible stages, and NounDesk never marks one done until the device itself confirms it.

  • Watch Waiting for device, Enrolling, Applying policy, Installing apps and Ready, per device.
  • A phone stuck on Installing apps because the Wi-Fi dropped shows as stuck, not as finished.
  • You know which phone in a batch of eight needs a second look before you hand them out.

Codes that expire, and can be revoked

One code can enroll many devices. You decide how many and for how long, so a code cannot quietly keep working long after the batch is done.

  • A code for eight phones that expires in seven days is typical for a new crew.
  • Revoke a code in one click if it leaks or the order is postponed.
  • A phone interrupted mid-enrollment resumes with the same code rather than starting over.

Most small businesses put off managing their phones because the first step sounds like a project: order devices, install an agent, configure each one. NounDesk removes that step. You scan a QR code on the phone's welcome screen and the rest happens on its own.

What enrollment covers, and what it does not

We would rather tell you now than surprise you later.

  • Company-owned only

Company-owned phones and tablets only. No personal phones with a work profile yet.

  • No iPhone or iPad

    Android 8 or newer only.

  • Zero-touch through a reseller

Available for phones bought through an authorized zero-touch reseller. Other phones use the QR code.

Where to go next

Once a phone is enrolled, three pages take it from there.

  • Check the dashboard

See what state each device is in.

  • Set the security policy

Decide how locked down the phones are.

  • Setting up a counter tablet?

    Start with kiosk mode instead.

Enrollment: questions answered

Does the phone need to be new?

It needs to be factory reset. A brand-new phone is already in that state. An older phone works after you reset it from Settings, which takes a couple of minutes.

Which Android versions can enroll?

Android 8 and newer. Some individual settings need Android 9 or 12, and the policy editor tells you which ones.

Do I install a NounDesk app on the phone?

No. Google's Android Device Policy is set up automatically during enrollment. There is no separate NounDesk app to install or keep updated.

Is zero-touch enrollment available?

Yes, for phones bought through an authorized zero-touch reseller. Link the reseller account in Google's zero-touch portal, pick the security policy and group once, and those phones enroll automatically the first time they are switched on, with no QR code. Every other phone enrolls by QR code.
