Zero-touch enrollmentNew

Phones that set themselves up.

Zero-touch enrollment is a way for company Android phones to enroll in NounDesk automatically the first time they are switched on, with no QR code and no hands-on setup. It works for phones bought through an authorized zero-touch reseller. You link your reseller account in Google's zero-touch portal, then pick the security policy and group once in NounDesk. Every new phone from that reseller gets them. Phones bought elsewhere still enroll with the QR code.

How does zero-touch enrollment work?

Zero-touch is for phones bought through an authorized zero-touch reseller. You link your reseller account in Google's zero-touch portal, and from then on those phones know to enroll in NounDesk.

  • Buy phones through an authorized zero-touch reseller.
  • Link your reseller account in Google's zero-touch portal.
  • Pick the security policy and group in NounDesk, then switch the phones on.

Set the policy and group once

You choose one security policy and one group for zero-touch phones. Every new phone from your reseller gets them the moment it enrolls.

  • No settings to repeat for each phone.
  • Pick the policy that fits most new phones, like Field Worker for a crew.
  • Move a phone to a different group or policy later, one at a time or in bulk.

What happens when 12 new phones arrive?

Hand them out still in the box. Each person switches their phone on and connects it to the internet, and it enrolls on its own.

  • No QR code to scan and no one from the office standing over each phone.
  • Each phone appears in NounDesk as it enrolls, already in its group.
  • The security policy, group and required apps follow automatically.

Does zero-touch work on any Android phone?

No. It only works for phones bought through an authorized zero-touch reseller. Phones bought anywhere else still enroll with the QR code, which takes a few minutes per phone.

  • Ask your phone supplier whether they are an authorized zero-touch reseller before you order.
  • Phones you already own from a regular store use the QR code after a factory reset.
  • Both kinds of phone end up managed the same way in NounDesk.

Setting up new phones by hand eats an afternoon. Unbox, reset, scan, wait, repeat. With zero-touch, a box of phones from your reseller can go straight to your staff. They switch them on, and each phone arrives in NounDesk with the right policy and group.

Phones not bought through a zero-touch reseller

Most small businesses have a mix. Zero-touch covers the new phones from your reseller, and the QR code covers the rest.
