Which Google account do I need?

You need one business Google account to connect NounDesk to Android Enterprise, and you connect it once. Google does not accept personal Gmail addresses for this. If your company uses Google Workspace, your super admin completes the connection. If it does not, create a free business Google account with your company email address during the connection step.

Why NounDesk needs a Google account at all

NounDesk manages phones through Android Enterprise, the management framework Google builds into every certified Android device. That framework needs to know which organization owns the devices, and Google identifies organizations by a Google account. You connect that account once; after that, NounDesk handles everything through Google’s servers and you never see the account again.

Which account to use

Your situation Use
You use Google Workspace (Gmail on your own domain) Your Workspace super admin connects. Google requires the super admin role.
You do not use Google Workspace During connection, choose to create a free managed Google Play account with your company email. No subscription needed.
You only have a personal @gmail.com address Google will not accept it. Create a company email address first, even a forwarding one, and use that.

What the connection does and does not do

It does register your company as the owner of the devices you enroll, and lets Google deliver apps and policies to them.

It does not give NounDesk access to your email, files or calendar. The connection is scoped to device management. Google credentials never leave the server and are never shown in NounDesk after the connection is made.

Employees do not need Google accounts

A NounDesk-managed phone is a company device. Employees never sign in to Google Play with a personal account; required apps install by themselves through managed Google Play. That is also why there is no separate NounDesk app to install.

When you’re ready, connect Google Android Enterprise walks through the connection screen by screen. Next: Setup guide.
